To create a pleasant living environment, we need the involvement of the entire community, including our youths, who have so much to contribute. The Municipal Services Office (MSO) hopes to empower and support passionate youths to implement their innovative ideas to resolve municipal issues within the community.
We run two youth initiatives that YOU can be a part of - Love Our ‘Hood Youth Challenge and Project Code R.E.D. (Research, Engage, Deploy).
Love Our ‘Hood Youth Challenge supports youths aged between 15 and 35 to transform their creative ideas into effective solutions that will create a better living environment for the community.
Together with our partner National Youth Council (NYC), we mentor and support youths with up to $10,000 of funding to pilot broad-based municipal-related ideas (such as prototype testing, awareness campaigns) in their community.
We collaborate with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) on Project Code R.E.D. where municipal topics are incorporated as part of IHLs’ coursework/programmes, such as students’ Final Year Project where students get the opportunity to tackle real-world problem statements.
Project Code R.E.D. is designed as a prototype-oriented experience for students to apply their skillsets in problem solving. Mentored by their lecturers, students involved will undergo the R.E.D. process to learn about municipal topics and implement their projects in the community.
